Barbara Walters includes the Kardashians on her "10 Most Fascinating People" 2011 List
Every year Barbara Walters hosts her "10 Most Fascinating People" list and this year there is much outrage about the Kardashians being included. We've all heard the good and bad press about this family empire, but even with the ups and downs, I get the impression that this family is not stopping for anyone! Ms. Walters confronts them for "being famous for being famous" and accusing them of not having any "real talent", but I have to say they handled the heat very well.
What is your opinion?
Are you still "Keeping up with the Kardashians"? or are your over it?

NEW MUSIC: The Woman You Love - Ashanti ft. Busta Rhymes
BOOKS: WWW Recommends "Romantically Challenged" By: Beth Orsoff
OVERVIEW: When L.A. entertainment lawyer Julie Burns becomes convinced that finding The One is "just a numbers game," she sets out on a dating frenzy. From chance meetings and blind dates to dating services and the wonderful world of the Internet, Julie will try anything to meet her man. And in the process, she discovers a secret or two about the single life: Sometimes love sneaks up on you when you least expect it-and even the worst first impressions can have surprising results.
Being single is tough enough without constantly being asked, "When are you getting married?" Julie Burns, a 32-year-old Hollywood entertainment attorney weary of being asked about her marital status and informed of the dismal statistical reality regarding the matrimonial chances for a single woman of her age, decides to put more effort into her search for a decent man. She is willing to try just about everything, except giving up her standards (for more than one date). The results are disastrous and hilarious. Urged by her friends, she gives a schlemiel she meets on an airplane a chance as well as trying dating services, blind dates, and speed dating. How can a cute, intelligent woman with a great career fail to meet the man of her dreams? Her friends claim she is just too picky, but Julie is just looking for a man with a future. Orsoff's screwball comedy about modern dating Hollywood-style is a surefire winner. Forget Bridget Jones and become engrossed in Julie's follies with men.

What Do Men Really Want? Anthony Hamilton Dishes On Black Love & Commitment
Soulful singer Anthony Hamilton dropped a new album last week, ‘Back to Love,’ just in time for a little romance during the holidays (and cuffing season now that it’s cold outside). Rolling Out Magazine recently caught up with Anthony and he discussed the misconceptions of ‘black love’ and what black women need to know about black men. He also dished on how a woman can tell if a man sees you as a long term relationship or a short term distraction.
Peep the excerpts:
On The Biggest Misconception About Black Love
The biggest misconception about black love is that we don’t get along or we don’t evolve as a couple. She’s making too much money, or he’s making more, we have that “I’m not good enough,” syndrome, but there are a lot of couples out there doing well together. Doctors and lawyers in one family, or nurses and construction workers in one family, and are really doing well.
It’s a misconception that black love doesn’t last. But we have couples that are 60 or 65-year-old, married couples. You have to find your strength, and your love within the Lord and you can have that too.
What is the one thing that you wish black women understood about black men?
I wish they would understood that we love the subtle, soft-spoken woman a lot more than the aggressive attitude. Because once you adopt that attitude you tend to use it and you use it not for good anymore, it becomes an unbalance. We love the soft side of a sister. We love the soft side of a woman, the submissive side. A man has to make you comfortable enough to show that side so you don’t have to be so defensive; so it’s a two way street.
On how black men can step up to the plate when it comes to relationships
They can step up to the plate by making bigger commitments, being ready, knowing what they want first of all, because in a real relationship you’re trying to go to a place and make this a real commitment, and then make the step. But if it’s not what you want, be honest.
A lot of time we’ll play like this was a real relationship, when all we wanted was the intimate rewards.
How prevalent is this game of men wanting the intimate rewards without the commitment?
I think that’s just been a curse lived year after year, for generations, and we have to break it.
On how women can tell if a man is dating for the intimate rewards or a long term commitment
If you’re dating around for company and you’re lonely, you’ll just take care of your physical needs, and/or emotional needs just for that moment. When you’re looking for a lifelong partner, you’re looking for that long-term commitment and comfort in the relationship, not just a sexual thing. You’ll make them wait.
He’ll make her wait, and he won’t mind waiting.
He’ll have a certain amount of patience and admiration for the person he’s spending time with. He won’t have that “‘whatever” attitude, and he’ll talk a certain way, he’ll talk like, “my wife” in his conversations and attitude. He’ll open doors and it won’t just last for two weeks, it will be an ongoing thing

NEW MUSIC: King of Hearts - Cassie
"King of Hearts" is set to be Cassie's next single off her second album titled, Seductress. Last week she dropped by 106 with Diddt to promote it and here's what he had to say.
"She was thrown into the game with two smash records when she came in and a lot of times when that happens, you have to catch up to your success. I think over the years, we’ve made sure we’ve put her through the proper things to make sure she catches up to how big she is worldwide. She’s not just an amazing artist but she’s a beautiful giving person and that’s the effect that she has on the younger generation and everyone that looks up to her. She doesn’t let her natural beauty get in the way of her striving and her hunger to be successful. She puts that work in and she’s definitely in the underdog situation. Trust me when I tell y’all, on this album, she’s going to show you what she got. Her swag is impeccable. To me, she’s definitely one of the baddest in the game."

Lace Wigs 101: Maintenance & Style
Lace wigs have gotten a bad rap lately. There are groups dedicated to protesting lace wigs on Facebook, and if you google “bad lace wig”, the images that pop up will give you a good idea about what the protests are all about. It doesn’t have to be this way. Purchasing a quality wig and having it professionally applied are two of the main factors that determine whether or not a person makes the “Bad Lace Wigs” list or not. Check out these tips courtesy of Tiffani Chanel Luxury Hair!
Lace Wig Tips:
1.Keep it real.
If you want your wig to look like your hair, the best thing that you can do is purchase one made of human hair. Because your natural hair usually won’t show, it is not necessary for the wig to be an exact match of your hair (unless you want it to be), but the hair should be a believable texture, length and color. Also, although some synthetic wigs are really nice, they do not last as long as human hair.
2. One size does NOT fit all.
I’ve had several customers ask me how much of their edges they needed to shave off to wear a lace wig. The first time I received that question, I was floored when I realized that people were allowing people (often stylists) to shave their hair off for so that their own natural hairlines wouldn’t extend beyond the wig. There is no wig worth shaving your hair off to fit. Wigs come in all sizes and if your natural edges protrude beyond the wig, that means it’s an incorrect fit. If your hairdresser asks to shave your hair, immediately find a new hairdresser and a custom wig, or at least a larger stock wig.
3.Invest in your wig
Buy the right products so that your wig looks good as long as possible. Why make the investment in a wig if you won’t give it what it needs? When people skip this step, they often wonder why their wig has a bald spot (it happens), looks dry or feels brittle after washing? The right shampoo and conditioner will make the wig retain its original luster, especially if it’s being washed in hard water. Ensuring that knot sealer is applied to the cap will prevent hair from slipping out of the lace. Moisturizing with the right product will prevent buildup and will keep it from looking or feeling greasy.
4.Become an expert
Many people spend up to $100.00 to get their wigs applied, removed and washed. Properly applying a lace takes patience, trial and error but most people are able to master it in just a few tries (or less). You Tube is a great place to find lace wig tutorials, and most online wig stores have Do-It-Yourself videos on their websites. Being able to apply, wash and remove your own wig means that don’t have to wait for an appointment to look fabulous.
5.Give it a rest
While it can be really easy to get into the habit of wearing a lace wig every day, it’s important to remember that your own hair needs maintenance. If you wear a glueless wig, chances are, you’ll see and maintain your natural hair, but if you attach it for weeks at a time, in between wig applications, be sure to wash, deep condition, rebraid, and get your ends trimmed, if necessary. Your hair will love it!

BOOKS: WWW Recommends "Commander In Chic" By: Mikki Taylor
What was your goal in writing this book?
"Simply put, I want every woman to be the “Commander in Chic” of her life. I want to see us all own our lives and master style with distinction. I used Mrs. Obama as a muse to empower women everywhere to do so – from mastering great style from within to establishing a wardrobe of bankable pieces and a signature look. It is my goal to see women utilize the book like a personal style diary – one where they’ll find the kind of guidance that takes the guess work out of what works on a multiplicity of subjects, among them:
- Where and when to shop and what to buy.
- Must-have accessories with timeless appeal.
- Great makeup finds and savvy application how-to’s.
- Targeted hair care, performance-driven tools and styling aids.
- Prime hand and nail care.
- Physical wellness and core fitness practices at every age.
- Mental and spiritual empowerment.
What advice would you give a woman who struggles to define her personal style?
Know that it’s about coining a look that works for you based on who you are and how you live your life. Remember style is a form of self-expression and so it really comes down to what you want to communicate. To understand your personal style code, ask yourself, what predominant style sensibility am I comfortable with? How would you define it? Classic? Elegant? Boho? Edgy? Once you establish your style-persona, shop accordingly and above all, remain true to yourself.
How do you define your own personal style?
I define my style as “classic with a twist.” I’m clear about what works for me and what doesn’t. My look is based on a modern, chic and effortless sensibility that keeps pace with my busy, always-on-the-go lifestyle. 90% of my wardrobe consists of great dresses, which make getting dressed an effortless affair. The balance is composed of smart separates that allow me to work them to new perfection just by a change of accessories.
HAPPY READING!

Hydeia Broadbent Talks Dating with HIV/AIDS
Hydeia contracted HIV at birth from a drug addicted mother, was later adopted and cared for by a family in Vegas and has went on to become an international HIV activist since first appearing on Oprah at age 6. In her interview, with LOOP 21, Hydeia explains how people’s attitudes towards HIV/AIDS has changed over the years as well as how it affects her social life. Check out he interview below:
with LOOP 21, Hydeia explains how people’s attitudes towards HIV/AIDS has changed over the years as well as how it affects her social life. Check out he interview below:
What do you think has improved in terms of people’s understanding of and attitudes towards HIV and AIDS?
I believe the younger generation tends to be de-sensitized, because they don’t really know how huge an issue HIV/AIDS was in the 80s. My 19-year-old sister [who is positive] has no problem dating guys her age. They are so open and not afraid, not like the guys my age who remember growing up afraid of getting AIDS. While that’s good for my sister’s generation, it’s kind of scary because there isn’t a sense of fear. I think my generation let them down because we forgot to inform and show them the true reality of AIDS.
If you’re HIV-positive, when do you disclose your status? On the date? Before a date? As soon as you meet? As soon as you’re interested?
I have a three-date rule. By the third date is when it’s time to let someone know—but a lot of people don’t start dating until after they have already had sex. You need to let your partner know before you take it that far. If the person rejects you, then look at the bright side—at least you find out sooner then later what type of person they really were.
Once you’ve told someone you’re involved with (or hope to be involved with) that you are HIV-positive, what are the best questions he or she can ask to help things move forward?
The best question: “What are the ways I can stay negative?” It’s important that people understand a person’s first reaction may be fear. Make sure you have all the answers to their questions and be willing to take that person with you to a doctor’s visit so they can ask other things themselves. I made such a point of taking my ex-boyfriend with me that my doctor would ask where he was if he didn’t see him by my side.
In all of your activist work and speaking engagements, what is the main thing people want to ask you about dating someone with HIV?
“Can you have sex or have children?” The answer is yes, I can. I have engaged in a healthy monogamous relationship. Currently, I choose to abstain. Due to advancements in medicine, a person, male or female, can get married and have children without passing HIV onto their loved ones.
We often hear that condom use is down…
A study recently said that condom use is up! However, I don’t feel enough [teens or twenty-somethings] are practicing safe sex because not enough adults are talking to the youth about sex and how to stay safe.
What’s the best way to encourage people to practice safe sex?
Be real with them about what can happen if they don’t. Simply by Googling pictures of STD outbreaks can be a wake-up. Or let people know there is no cure for AIDS and not everyone has access to the life-saving medications they may need. If you don’t have health insurance, it could cost almost $4000 a month for medications and that doesn’t include the cost for doctor’s visits, blood tests or other medications you may need.
At the end of the day, safe sex or no sex is better then a positive test result. Please remember people are still dying—maybe not at an alarming rate, but some do lose their fight against AIDS.

Behind The Scenes: Beyonce Explains the meaning of "Dance For You"
Pauleanna says: Beyonce released this behind the scenes video for "Dance For You", one of her most seductive tracks off the album '4'. Dance For You" is directed by herself along with Solange’s boyfriend director Alan Ferguson, is about losing control and giving yourself fully to one man:
"Dance For You” is about giving yourself fully to one person. It’s about being able to lose control with the person you’re meant for. Both the medley and the lyrics make it one of my most intimate songs, so I wanted the video to have the same rawness.
I wanted the video to have a classic feel; to be seductive but still keep the sense of mystery. When I write, when I perform, and when I make music videos, I don’t hold anything back. Dance for you is about that same passion; to be free and unrestrained."
And incase you missed the video:
Drinking Coffee May Lower Cancer Risk In Women
Yes! It is true. A new study found in Time Magazine proves that drinking coffee is associated with a lower risk of cancer among women.
"Senior author Edward Giovannucci of the Harvard School of Public Health and his team report that women who drank four or more cups of coffee a day over 26 years had a 25% lower risk of endometrial cancer, compared with those consuming less than a cup a day. Women who drank two or three cups a day had a 7% lower risk."
Giovannucci and his team discovered that caffeine and other components in coffee are responsible for a cancer-fighting effect. Coffee also contains powerful antioxidants that may protect cells from becoming cancerous.
"The effect of coffee on estrogen and insulin seem to be due to other components in coffee that aren't related to caffeine," says Giovannucci. "There does seem to be a benefit that could be achieved through decaffeinated coffee too."
Furthermore, Starbucks and Second Cup loves have another reason to get excited because that cup of coffee is definitely benefiting their health.
Rihanna Goes Blonde For The "You Da One" Videoshoot
Pauleanna says: This song is one of my favourites off the album! Rihanna never seems to disappoint. I'm looking forward to the video and what direction she will take the visuals.
After coming in third on Billboard’s Top 200, selling 197,000 copies of TTT in its first week, Rihanna was caught in London filming a scene for her newest video. The visual for accent-heavy “You Da One” is directed by Melina Matsoukas, who also directed Rihanna’s “We Found Love” mini-movie.
This time around, Rihanna found wardrobe inspiration from characters in 1971 Stanley Kubrick film A Clockwork Orange, who also rocked tight, white T-shirts, suspenders, boulder caps, canes and iconic, thick lashes. Rihanna’s dagger nails, butt-cheek-exposing jean shorts and graphic tights are her own twist to the costume.

Beyonce Appears on 20/20 with Katie Couric
Beyonce sat down with Katie Couric on 20/20 to discuss the new love of her life. It is rumoured that she is having a girl, but she has chosen not to reveal that little secret as well as her due date just yet. With all the speculation about her fake baby bump, in this candid interview Beyonce reveals that she has no time for any of that foolishness and actually laughs at the thought. She says, "There are certain things that are so far [out] that it doesn’t even upset you. My mother, she’s like, ‘Nobody’s talking about my grandbaby! My grandbaby’s not even here yet!’ I’m like, ‘Calm down, mom. It’s okay. It’s really silly.’ ‘I don’t like it!’ So my mom is really protective and so is my sister, but I’m cool. It’s so ridiculous and over the top.”
Over the last decade, Beyonce has established herself as an icon and to round out this amazing year with not only a baby announcement and a chart topping album, she is now releasing a concert DVD. Peep some excerpts, please the full interview below:
On if she’ll be taking time off and crazy Pregnancy Cravings
I’ll be taking time off and getting in shape. I’m not looking forward to that because I’ve been having a good time. I read that I like ketchup on everything. I was on a plane and the flight attendant came and was like, ‘I have your hot sauce and pickles and bananas.’ I’m like, ‘That is disgusting! What are you doing?’ And he’s like, ‘I read it on the internet!’”
On Her Baby Announcement
“News that’s that big, it’s hard to hide and keep to yourself. I felt so liberated and I felt *sigh* I can breathe and be happy. You know, it was a beautiful feeling. I went straight off the stage and just cried. I hugged my mom, I hugged Jay and just cried.”
On Jay-Z’s Feelings About Being a Dad
“You can only imagine — and then multiply that. It’s like the time can’t come fast enough. I’m still anxious. I want to hold the baby.”
On The Best Part of Being Pregnant
“The best thing is knowing that my favorite person in the world, I haven’t met them yet. And hopefully I’m gonna pass on what generations of my family has passed on to me. It’s exciting.”
