The NEW "Sex & The City" Cast is Revealed
Meet the new cast of the "Sex and the City" prequel. According to the Daily Mail, discussions of a third movie is in the works featuring Hollywood's hottest young talents. The film will be based on The Carrie Diaries and Summer in the City, two novels which were published this year by Candace Bushnell.
Here's a little background of each character in their early years and who will play their role:
[CARRIE]
WHO: Elizabeth Olsen, 22 - younger sister of twins Ashley and Mary-Kate
BACKGROUND: Originally from the Midwest, a young Miss Bradshaw travels to New York as an aspiring writer - minus the Manolos, the girlfriends and tangled romances
THE LOOK: Already noticed for her individual sense of style, expect the usual combos
[CHARLOTTE]
WHO: Selena Gomez, 19 - Disney star and girlfriend of Justin Bieber
BACKGROUND: Barely featured in the prequel books although she is sure to appear more frequently in the films, author Candace said of Selena: 'She’d make a really good young Charlotte’
THE LOOK: Good girl, fresh- faced
[SAMANTHA]
WHO: Blake Lively, 23 - made her name in Gossip Girl
BACKGROUND: Originally in a long-term relationship before going on the rampage, steady Samantha looks after a young Carrie when she first arrives in New York, showing her the ropes
THE LOOK: Think Eighties power dressing, shoulder pads and big hair
[MIRANDA]
WHO: Emma Roberts, 20 - niece of Julia Roberts, starred in Scream 4
BACKGROUND: Politically minded Miranda meets Carrie while she is protesting outside department store Barneys. The young Miss Bradshaw is on a shopping spree... Cue differences of opinion
THE LOOK: Think lobbyist, student grunge
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times last year, Sarah Jessica Parker said, "I don't think we can pretend to go back... It's creating two histories. It's like, 'Oh I didn't know that about Carrie Bradshaw.''
One fan also agreed, "The prequel would suck. I don't want to see youngsters playing these characters that we've all grown up with. Let the ladies continue their journey filled with surprises."
What's your opinion about SATC 3? Do you think it will be a success or failure?

Kelly Rowland covers Vibe Magazine's "Juice" Issue
Since the success of Kelly Rowland's #1 single, Motivation, we've seen a more confident and sexy side to her. On the cover of VIBE magazine's August/September issue, she opens up about parting ways from the wings of Matthew Knowles, growing into her sexuality and working on her new album. Here's a snippet from her interview below.
ON BEING MORE APPRECIATED IN EUROPE VS. HOME
VIBE: The last album didn’t do well in the States. It did better overseas, particularly in Europe. Do you feel more appreciated in Europe?
Kelly Rowland: No, not really. People still compare me to B over there. I said in an interview recently, 'You know, if you guys would be a little bit more intelligent and ask me about myself we’ll have a much better interview.' You can’t want a story from me and keep asking me about the past.
ON HER COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIP WITH MATTHEW KNOWLES
VIBE: When you walked away from that last meeting with Mathew, did you feel an “exhale” moment?
Kelly Rowland: I did, but I also felt like, 'Oh my God, what have I done?!' I stayed in the house for two days. I was sad. It was like a funeral. I had to deaden that situation in order to start fresh. That’s a very long time to have the same manager and the same label.
VIBE: What about your personal relationship with Mathew Knowles. Do you still talk to him?
Kelly Rowland: Mathew sent me flowers for my birthday!
VIBE: But do you talk to him?
Kelly Rowland: It’s... I respect him above anything.
ON HER SEDUCTIVE SIDE
VIBE: Speaking of this road we’re going on... Let’s talk about the song “Motivation.” I have to admit, the song went completely over my head. I thought you were talking about working out.
Kelly Rowland: [Laughs] No, honey.
VIBE: When you heard the song, did you think, This may be too racy for my image?
Kelly Rowland: Not at all. Every woman knows what that feels like—hopefully. But everyone doesn’t expect Kelly to sing about it. This is true. But I just loved the song so much. And yes, I can relate to it. I came into my sexuality while I was recording this album. I can walk into a sex shop now and not worry about what people would say if they saw me in there.
I say: I'm really loving this new Kelly. Gone are the days where she couldn't get an ounce of attention if the buzz had nothing to do with Destiny's Child. She is finally making a name for herself as an individual instead of being referred to as a backup singer for Beyonce.
What is your opinion of her? Yay or Nay?
This issue of VIBE magazine hit stands on August 16th!

Miss Jackson Swimwear- Lovelorn Assassin

Here are my favourite pieces from Lovelorn Assassin...

Healthy Hair Care
A woman's hair is her crown and glory. It's especially a large focus in the African American community. Untamed tresses are cause for a major meltdown. Here is a little info to make sure your mane is at it's ultimate best this summer.
A little about my hair: I've had relaxed hair for about 8 years now, my natural hair pattern is 4a (tight coils) and hard (I broke combs like it was my full time job in my youth). I'm on a mission to get longer and healthier hair.
My hair regimen can seem overwhelming at first but it's quite simple. African American hair needs to be cared for differently. Moisture is MUST! Moisture is achieved through deep conditioning and maintained through a proper hair regimen.

My go to products/ Weekly Regimen
-Extra Virgin Coconut Oil – Saturate your hair with the oil and put on a plastic cap for 30-40mins. Coconut oil is one of few oils that actually penetrates the hair shaft to strengthen and soften your hair.
-One n' Only Argan Moisture Repair Shampoo- Wash your hair with sulfate-free shampoo. Sulfate free shampoos are a lot less harsh on your strands.
-One n' Only Argan Oil Restorative Mask- Use this as a deep conditioner, apply it to your hair and put a plastic cap back on wash out after 20mins. If possible do it with heat, under a hooded dryer. This Deep conditioner is a moisture and protein deep conditioner. The protein strengthens while the moisture softens.
-Beauticurls Leave in Hair Conditioner – Apply this to wet hair. This leave in adds moisture to the hair.
- Extra Virgin Coconut Oil - Apply 2-3 drops of oil on your hair to seal in the leave in conditioner. Natural oil seals in moisture. Let your hair air-dry. Skip the harsh heat damage from the blow-dryer and straighter.
A few Dos and Don’ts for the Road:
Do comb your hair with a wide toothcomb to reduce breakage from a harsh brush
Do wait at Least 6-8 weeks between relaxers to avoid over processing previously relaxed hair
Do keep your hair moisturized, relaxed or natural! Natural girls need more moisture. Seal in the moisture with a few drops of oil.
Do not go over a week without washing and deep conditioning your hair, weave, braids and all.
Happy hair growing!

Karla Moy - Woman with a Story
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Karla to have a chat about life and all of the wonderful achievements that she has accomplished at only 19. She is a self-taught graphic designer who has had her own business since the age of 12 and her resume to date consists thousands of clients all over the world, including many musicians of superstar status. What I love most about Karla is how humble she is. She doesn't let any of her success cloud her vision and she keeps two feet on the ground at all times. Leading the way as one of the most talented and successful graphic designers in Toronto, Karla is definately What Women Want! What did I learn from Karla? It's not about what you know, it's all about who you know!
It's my pleasure to introduce to you Karla Moy.
How old are you? 20s/30s/40s?
I’m 19 years old
What is your zodiac sign?
Cancer
What is your educational background?
I graduated from an all French high school in Brampton and I’ve decided to take a year off to work. I do have my sights on attending university, but anything could happen in the span of a year. If I go, it will probably be at Ryerson for radio and television.
Where were you born? Raised? Live now?
I was born in Germany and I grew up in both Montreal and the city of Toronto.
Single or Taken?
Single
First job ever?
Working as an assistant at a dental office
First “real” job?
I’ve never had a 9-5 and my business doesn’t even feel like work to me, so I can’t say that I’ve ever had a real job.
Your 5 “must haves” of the moment?
My Macbook, my Blackberry, my IPOD touch, a huge purse that I can throw my life into, and rings, I always have rings on.
What are you currently listening to?
Drake, J.Cole, Rihanna, Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, and Andrea Lewis
So what do you do and take us along the path (personal & professional) that took you where you are today.
People mainly know me for my graphic design, my personal blog www.hustlegrl.com and the brains behind Drake`s official fan site which is www.allthing-fresh.net. So how did I start? When I was about 10 I was the biggest B2K fan and I saw other fans using the Internet to show their appreciation for the group. Being so young when the Internet was new, I was able to pick up on alot of things. I randomly messaged another fan and asked her what program she used to create her fan banner. I downloaded the program and started playing around with it by myself, I googled tutorials and did some research. Graphic design is not something I went to school for, I taught myself. When I was 12, people started offering me money to create sites for them. Of course it was only $5 here and $10 there, but when you’re a kid that is lunch money! (laughs) At the time Drake was on Degrassi and a friend of mind told me about his budding music career and sent me the mixtape called Room for Improvement. I thought it was dope! When I googled to find more information on him I realized that I couldn’t find anything. So I started a fansite myself and that leap paid off. Today he is one of the biggest artists in the world and my connection with him really helped me elevate the site. We met through mutual friends associated with The Remix Project and eventually built a solid relationship. Since then I became the official fansite administrator and I go on tour with him from time to time. The most important thing about our relationship is trust. Whenever there is a rumour online, he comes to me to clear it up because he knows that I have that direct connection with his fans. It’s really cool!
What are some of the other projects that you are working on? Anything outside of graphic arts?
I recently started getting into photography. I wouldn’t label myself a photographer yet though- but I admire the art. A friend of mine let me have their camera and I’ve been shooting a lot lately. When I go on the road with Drake, I’ve been practicing alot while he’s performing.
Other graphic design projects that I have done in the past would be Lil Wayne’s No Ceilings and Sorry 4 the Wait mixtape covers, I also created his blog when he penned letters to his fans from jail, I’ve worked with Funkflex with Hot 97, and Diggy Simmons mixtape cover, I designed Nicki Minaj’s birthday cake, well not the actual cake but the designs which were printed on the cake was done by me, it was shown on 106 & Park. I’ve done things for Future Da Prince and I recently launched my portfolio on www.karlamoy.com- some of my best work is on there.
(Airborne mixtape cover by Diggy Simmons)
(Sorry 4 The Wait & No Ceilings mixtape covers by Lil' Wayne)
What’s the toughest thing you’ve been faced with thus far?
The toughest thing that I have to deal with is the negative comments from fans- but I try not to focus on that. For example, Drake’s fansite. I have to interact with the fans and deal with their emotions. I create contests for them to win amazing opportunities and if they lose, they start talking bad about me or the site. My job is to keep the fans happy and I represent Drake’s online presence so it sometimes it affects me. But I’m strong enough to move on.
(Karla with J.Cole)
(Karla with Drake and Niko)
(Karla with Kid Cudi)
What did your parents want you to be?
They wanted me to be a doctor, lawyer, teacher. They are both educators.
What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given?
My mentor is Bryan Espiritu, he’s dope. I met him when I was 14. His advice is simple. "Think out of the box and don’t follow trends."
What advice do you have for women who want to follow in your footsteps?
First you have to be very strong. This industry is dominated by men and you shouldn’t let no man’s comments bring you down. Confidence is important. You have to really be on your toes. Be yourself and work hard! Take advantage of all opportunities. Don’t sleep and don’t get comfortable in your own turf, because someone will take your spot! All of your sleepless nights will pay off. Always remember, you can do something amazing, but will only be amazing for a certain period of time so keep pushing.
What’s next for you?
No big corporate projects, but I will be working for Young Money again, for Birdman and Mac Mane.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years... 10 years?
Honestly, everything that I have accomplished already it wasn’t anything that I planned. I’m not going to say that I don’t want to play for the future because I know I should but right now I’m just letting everything flow. I’m receiving opportunities left and right and some of it has nothing to do with graphic design. I’ve also worked closely with MuchMusic as a Vjay and blogger. I want to go to Ryerson for radio and television broadcasting.
Don’t you want to go to school for graphic design to improve your skills?
You know what’s funny? I applied at OCAD and did the interview process and showed the professors my portfolio and they all told me that I would be bored and that I was better than some of their graduates. I wanted to cry because I really wanted to go to OCAD. They accepted me eventually, but I had to fight for a position. The professors think that I’m wasting my time and money.
In this industry that we’re in, it’s not really about what you know or your educational background. It’s all about who you know. It is possible to be the most talented without an education in graphic design and still have a career.
And lastly, in your opinion, What do Women Want??
Women want power.

Relationships: 5 Ways to Exit a Date From Hell
The doorbell rings, you rush downstairs, then take a second to glance into the closet mirror one last time to make sure everything is on point because your girlfriend swore up and down that this is the man of your dreams; everything that you've ever wanted. With a rush of excitement you open the door, already giving him the title in your mind. But when you finally get a glimpse of who is on the other side, time stops, your stomach turns, your mouth falls open - because you know he is not your type.
I came across an article in Vibe Vixen about 5 Ways to Exit a Bad Date. They are actually pretty funny and remind me of time when I had to put #5 into action. Luckily, I got out of that date ASAP, but I know that some ladies who aren't familiar with these exit strategies probably weren't so lucky. Below are 5 ways that can save you when he tries to pull that "I forgot my wallet" bull*ish or reveals to you that he has "baby mama drama". Whatever the case it, after reading this blog post - you'll have a game plan.
5. Create a code red. Before even leaving to meet your date, call up one of your best girlfriends and come up with a plan. I call this plan, code red. Code red is a plan specifically devised as a safe exit out of any and every catastrophe. Here’s what you do: Call up your girl and inform her that if you call her and hang up at any point during the date, that is her cue to call you so you can walk away and act as if you absolutely have to take this call. On your way back to your table from taking “the call” amp up your urgency and politely act as if you are having a family/friend emergency and have to head out, let him know you’d love to do this again some other time and BOUNCE! - Side note: make sure your girlfriend is the last person you called so all you’ll have to do is hit send, let it ring a little and then end.
4. Suddenly get sick. Now, while this does require a tad bit of acting, it really is fairly easy to do. All you do is, excuse yourself to go to the ladies room and don’t return for about 15-20 minutes later. Return to the table with fresh beads of “sweat” on your forehead (which will really be water), when he asks if you’re okay tell him no, you’ve suddenly caught some kind of stomach virus and have to get going. Let her/him know you will call later to reschedule after you’re feeling better and hit the road with no bridges broken.
3. Create a quick lie and exit. This is extremely simple and needs to happen the exact moment you realize he/she is not for you. The moment you realize this throw your little white lie into action. Exhibit A: “Omigosh! It’s __o’clock! I totally forgot I agreed to babysit my niece/nephew for my sister, I’m so sorry I have to go pick him up. We’ll have to do this again some other time. I’m so sorry, I’ll call you.” And that was all she wrote. Get in, get out, plan executed.
2. Turn him off. This plan involves you to get a little down and dirty, I have to warn you…you will have to do some things you most likely (hopefully) would never do in your everyday life. This plan involves you to do anything to turn him off which means if you have to gross him out, do that, if you have to lie and say you have 12 kids and 19 baby fathers (I know it doesn’t add up but again, were trying to turn him off so correct calculation isn’t exactly a factor), do that. This is a do or die situation, and it’s either kill or be killed. If he’s just that bad of a date and nothing will turn him off you may have to just come clean and tell the truth.
1. Be honest. Being honest is really simple, there’s no specific plans or codes to this one, it’s just telling the truth. Plain and simple. However, this is probably one of the most awkward ways as you possibly run the risk of being disrespect or burning a bridge or two.

Beauty Post: Loving the Skin You're In
I saw this video on Those Girls Are Wild and was absolutely impressed by a 17 year old girl named Winnie. Winne has a rare skin condition called Vitiligo which has changed the color of her skin over time, but from what I know, she doesn't let any of that stop her from living life to the fullest. In fact, she explodes with confidence and is a great inspiration to us all because of her strength. You will love her energy and even more so, her story. The pleasure is all mine to introduce her to you...
Jennifer Hudson Talks Weight Loss and Living the A-List Life in the Daily Mail
Jennifer Hudson spoke to Daily Mail recently about her weight loss and living the A-List life. After experiencing such a heartbreaking tragedy- the shooting of her mother, brother and nephew back in 2008, she has risen above all odds and has jumped through hurdles to get back to a happy place where she can rejuvenate her career, focus on her family, and take hold of promising opportunities that have now sored towards her direction due to her 'new look."
She says, "I’d no idea what I was missing out on. It’s like a whole other world. Suddenly every designer wants to dress you. It’s like, “You look amazing! Please, choose a dress. Have a bag. And what about shoes?” I mean, wow!"
But although she has grown accustom to a bigger and better lifestyle, she doesn't let material things cloud her world. In the back of her mind, she still remembers where she came from and her past disappointments fuel her desire to use this attention to become a role model and encourage young people to fight for what they believe in.
"Don’t block your blessings. Don’t let doubt stop you from getting where you want to be.” says Hudson, who made a conscious choice to dust herself off and move forward even when her future looked dim.

BOOKS: WWW Recommends The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell
Candace Bushnell is no stranger to the blog. We've done many great posts on Sex & the City so when I heard that she was writing two new books following the movie I was thrilled to get my hands on them.
Overview: Before Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw was a small town girl who knew she wanted more. Throughout the pages of this book, you will see her evolve into a young woman as she comes face to face with many obstacles in her life and is forced to think quick on her feet. Candace did a great job showing us how Carrie learns to think for herself and how she grows into the sharp, insightful writer that we have grown to love.
If you're interested in Carrie before she met the girls, this story should be your next pick. It will have you on the same adventurous emotional rollercoaster and best of all, it's a quick and easy read that you'll enjoy. Candance Bushnell has a new book in stores now called Summer in the City, the follow up to this one, which takes place in New York where Carrie meets Samantha and Miranda for the first time. I've already heard great things and I can't wait to get my hands on it!
HAPPY READING LADIES! (.. and let me know what you think of the book)

Gwyneth Paltrow's words...
Name: Gwyneth Paltrow
Age: 38
Zodiac: Libra
She says: "Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That... or a kick-ass red lipstick!"
I say: One day your looks will fade, but once you've reached a point in your life where you truly understand what self-love means. Your confidence is what will last forever.
Would you ever ditch your real job for your dream job?
What are YOU most passionate about and do you think that one day you will muster up the courage to ditch the 9-5 to pursue your dreams?
If you already have, then that's great! We want to hear from you. Meet me in the comment section of this post. I look forward to reading your story.
Pauleanna
Shannae says: I would totally ditch my real job for my dream job and I've done it in the past successfully. Just make sure that you have a strategy and contingency plan (financially and career wise) and things will work out. REMEMBER - a failure to plan is a plan for failure!! Oh yes, and connections and relationships are everything... don't burn any bridges and nurture all of the relationships that are important to you. You never know when you may need to call those people for a favour, reference or recommendation! Great post P!

Shannon Boodram - Woman with a Story
Pauleanna says: Shannon is a personal friend of WWW and it's my pleasure to introduce her to you. She is a journalist, photographer, tv host and more. She wears so many hats and balances everything with ease. Oh! and if you haven't had the time to check out her blog www.thosegirlsarewild.com - what are you waiting for! It is a compilation of thoughts, video spoofs and photo journals from herself and creative partner Andrea Lewis and keeps me entertained regularly. Shannon has a great following and works from a platform where she inspires everyone around her. I'm so proud to share her story with you.
Enjoy!
How old are you? 20s/30s/40s?
Troublesome 20’s
What is your zodiac sign?
I never publicize my birthday on social networks or in interviews. This may sound odd but I don’t generally share this information because there is something about complete strangers having all these preconceived ideas about you, that I don’t like. Oh she’s a Gemini so we all know she gets moody! Oh she’s a Leo so she must be an attention whore! I’d rather you got to know me first and then decide fairly if I am or am not what my birthday says.
Where were you born? Raised? Live now?
Oh man this is pretty boring: born in Toronto, raised in Toronto suburb of Pickering and I now… live in Toronto. I have lived in Baltimore and LA though if that helps to spice up my response but truth be told I love where I am from and I would be proud to live out my days in this city.
Single or Taken?
I’m a single person’s single. I’ve been single for over half a decade! The people I want to be serious about aren’t looking to be serious and the people who are serious about me, I don’t have strong feelings for. I’m just waiting for Cupid to stop playing practical jokes on me and until then I am absolutely content standing in the grocery line alone.
First job ever?
Pizza Pizza! I was 15 and paid under the counter, cash-only! We got unlimited pizza and drinks at that job, oh how I packed on the pounds after a month of Hawaiin Pizza and Oh Henry! Milkshakes.
First “real” job?
In my last year of College I was hired as the host of Rogers TV Toronto’s High School Rush. It was such an incredible experience, Rogers is a grassroots station and not to sound like a cornball but all of the full-time staff are basically professional gardeners and nurturers. I LOVE Rogers TV, I stayed at that position up until last year when I had to leave for LA to promote my book (plus the students started calling me ma’am so I figured it was time to pass the torch).
Your 5 “must haves” of the moment?
My laptop, my camera (Nikon D700), my 85 mm f 1.4 lens, my iPod Touch (stalked with plenty of audio books) and my video camera.
What are you currently listening to?
I rarely listen to music. Though I love it in social settings, when I’m on my own I don’t usually play it unless I’m working out. So right now I am listening to The Hunchback of Notre Dame on audio book but when I do workout I’ve been listening to Andrea Lewis’ album 54321.
So what do you do?
I am a 360 journalist and storyteller: I write, I do photography and I am a TV/ video personality.
Take us along the path (personal & professional) that took you where you are today.
I was 18, on a track and field scholarship at Coppin State University in Baltimore, warming up for a 400 m race. One of my teammates whom had finished her events for the day sauntered over and began to gossip about one of our coaches. I rolled my eyes and continued stretching without acknowledging her.
“Damn why are you such a bitch before you run?” she asked walking away.
“Because I hate it,” I said aloud for the first time.
That summer I returned to my parent’s home in Pickering and decided that I better start putting my time and effort towards something that I actually loved doing. Within a month’s time, I gave up my scholarship and enrolled in Centennial College’s journalism program because that was the only writing program accepting last-minute applicants.
Having spent so much time pursuing the Olympic dream I felt truly behind on my first day of College so right off the bat I decided to couple my education with cooperative hands-on volunteering. I took on a volunteer position as a sports writer for my local newspaper and as a volunteer sports broadcaster for my local TV station. In the second half of my first year, I also began working on a book called LAID, a peer education, raw approach to sexual education. I was so passionate and obsessed with the concept of LAID, that I actually ended up failing a couple courses in College in my second and third year. By year four – yup it took me four years to do a three year program - I kind of lost hope in LAID and began to focus on other areas of journalism like magazine writing, photography and TV hosting (luckily my literary agent Arnold Gosewich, did not giveup on my book). I landed a position as the host of Rogers TV’s High School Rush Toronto and wrote for several magazines interviewing artists like Drake, Keri Hilson, Robin Thicke, Beenie Man and Ciara. In my final semester of school I interned at MTV Canada and Evans and Yvonne Photography studios. When I graduated College in April 2008, Rogers TV offered me a more permenant hosting contract and Centennial College offered me a job in the communications department. I was working almost 50 hours a week between the two, which I didn’t mind because I loved both of my jobs. In September of 2008 something totally unexpected happened: Arnold called me to tell me that Seal Press was very, very close to offering a deal for LAID. I didn’t know what to think – so much time had passed and I had moved on as a professional. How was I going to tell my bosses at work that I may need time off because my sex book was coming out? I made a decision very quickly that if I was going to have the opportunity to have LAID in stores than I was going to put all of my effort towards getting people to buy it!
My book was due out October 2009, in June of that year I won an award as Canada’s best Rogers TV on-air personality. After accepting the award I told me producer about my book and the time I would need, I also left my job at Centennial.
When October hit, I ran with it! I got press coverage in the Toronto Star, Maclean’s Magazine, The Toronto Sun, Metro and Desi Magazine. I also appeared on CBC, CH CH News, TVO and CP24. Shortly thereafter I started to do sexual education talks at schools like Humber, U of T and Seneca. I would like to tell you I accomplished these things through great management but it was all through boring, repetitive, shameless harassing of the right contacts! By November my books had sold out completely in Ontario but had hardly made a dent in the American market. I decided to go to LA in January and hire a publicist since my publishing company had not proven to be great at marketing and I would not know where to begin on foreign turf. Isabella Michon was a great fit fore me who landed me appearances on CNN Radio, Fox News, KTLA the #1 morning show and The Gregory Mantell show. I also got to speak at UCLA, Santa Monica College and University of Northridge.
When I returned home in summer I began to write my second book, work on my blog, do photography professionally and host shows whenever I am invited to. That’s pretty much where I am today, en route to a second book plus working on developing a web series with my partner Andrea Lewis.

What’s the toughest thing you’ve been faced with thus far?
Failure. I know a lot of people can say that but failure is a regular part of my life, people tell me NO on something important to me at least once a week. Did I get that TV position, do they want to sponsor my project, will this school host my presentation, did this person write me back? Uh, no. I feel like I get doors slammed in my face on a regular basis, well not slammed, more like slowly but firmly closed. I’ve had to learn how to dust myself off, re-polish my proposal and then knock again while faking like I have the same confidence that I did on the first try.
What did your parents want you to be?
My parents wanted me to be whatever I was interested in at the time! Last summer I was riding my bike around and I ended up at Ryerson University where I nearly ran over a group of students who were walking while reading some chemistry text book, I thought wow, in a couple years they will graduate and jobs will be waiting for them. That must be such a nice feeling. I went home and called my dad to ask, “now that you see what a struggle being a journalist and someone in the arts has been for me, do you wish you pushed me to become an engineer or nurse?” my dad said, “I’d rather hear you complain about the struggle to do what you love than listen to you talk about how much you hate what you’re doing.”
What’s the best piece of advice you were ever give
Finding Nemo: Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming.
What advice do you have for women who want to follow in your footsteps?
In the past it was: it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. Nowadays: it’s not what you know, it’s who knows you! If you do not have a blog, twitter, etc… then you are missing a huge part of this industry. The greatest thing about blogs is that people genuinely feel like they know you and like they’re your friend without you even knowing their name. Since writing and photography is all about waiting for the next opportunity, the more people who can bring them to you, the better!
Is it possible for a woman to successfully balance both love and career? Why or why not?
Rachel Simmons who is one of my inspirations, told me that in order to have a fulfilled life you need to achieve success in one of your passions. She then said that she felt successful as a working woman but in order to attain that, she had to fall short in other areas of her life. I feel like it’s hard to do one without falling short of the other.
What’s next for you?
I am working on two books right now, a non-fiction anthology (if you’re a female hit me up for details to see if you can be apart of it) and a fiction book about an accidental heroine. Myself and Andrea are also working towards turning our blog ThoseGirlsAreWild.com into a web series, we have great representation, a pilot filmed and the proposal is done – we’re just waiting for the right hands to get a hold of it…
Where do you see yourself in 5 years... 10 years?
Doing what I do now but on a greater scale. I’d like to have my own TV show and during the off season I retreat to my second home where I write and run my own portraiture studio. It has been my dream life for over 5 years so I am not certain if it will take me 5 or 10 more years to attain it.
And lastly, in your opinion, What do Women Want??
Women want to be in an environment and around people that help bring the best out of them. We want the job that utilizes our best talents, a mate that challenges yet cherishes us, family that nurtures us and friends that know how to show us a good time.

No sex, No flirting, No dating - Could you do it ?
She continues, "I’m just trying to look at the mistakes that I made. I got so caught up in the flesh and I’m not even allowing someone to get to know the best parts of me. I’m a single girl in the world, but if I don’t have some standards then I can be making the same mistakes that I made in the past. I do want love. Genuine love."
New Music: Cassie - Make You A Believer
In another recent interview with Nylon Magazine, she revealed that her album, Electro Love, is going to be a "cool blend of pop, hiphop and ska." and that she's aiming for that "Aaliyah" sound.
